Our guest speaker Alex Shead is the founder of Fair Business  www.fairbusiness.org.au.  Fair Business was conceived in April 2008 by Alex, an entrepreneur with extensive experience of buying and growing businesses. Keen to make a positive difference to people’s lives, Alex saw an opportunity to apply his skills for a social purpose – buying or establishing businesses to create new jobs for people facing barriers to employment. Supported by a wide network of partners, Fair Business currently have three businesses in their portfolio and more in the pipeline. Alex will be sharing his story of how he first conceptualised this venture, his journey to execute on the vision, and his plans for the future development of the organisation. In addition to Alex’s presentation, we will also be showcasing some projects that MGSM Networker will be involved with in the coming year – a great opportunity for those of you wishing to get more hands on in the social entrepreneurial space. As usual, the formal part of the evening  will be followed by an opportunity for attendees to mix and share ideas and information over networking drinks. So come along and help see off the 2010 Networker year with us on November the 23rd. Please note: MGSM Networker events are open to all (not just MGSM people) so if you have a colleague who would be interested in this topic, feel free to invite them along. Just make sure they register for the event.
